Yorkton Chamber of Commerce History 1972
During the presidency of Arnold Gillies, the Chamber built its own building at 131 East Broadway and moved in to the new building in 1972. The building, a small cottage type building was originally intended to be raffled off as a summer cottage, with proceeds to go to building a permanent building for the Chamber. However the bottom fell out of the economy and the structure at 131 East Broadway became the home of the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce. At that time, there was no facility to service the tourist trailers and the Chamber constructed a sewage dump station at the rear of 131 East Broadway. This service was offered free of charge to tourists.
